Permanent Exhibition
The permanent exhibition at Bait Mohammed bin Khalifa gives an overview of the history of this historic home and of the wider World Heritage property of The Cultural Sites of Al Ain.
With a focus on the Transition Period, visitors will not only learn about the evolution of the House but also the transformation of the surrounding city over the past 60 years.
The interactive experience ‘Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan — Life and Legacy’ is an introduction to the man and his story and also honours his position as an important member of the Al Nahyan family, the Rulers of Abu Dhabi. Visitors will enjoy a fascinating glimpse into the daily life of the late Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, learning about his interests and occupations, from gardening and the management of palm trees to the art of falconry.
Passing through the exhibition, visitors will discover architectural details of the House while hearing music from performers such as the poet Osha Al Suwaidi, or ‘Fatat Al Arab’ Ali bin Rogha and Umm Kulthum — Arab artists popular at the time of its construction. They can also listen to the fascinating oral histories of elderly Al Ain residents, who recount their experiences of living and working in the city over the decades.
